A few simple changes and a new bathroom is born! Beautiful granite counter tops were added to both the master bath and a hall bath. The vertical placement of accent tile in the shower adds some pop to this bathroom. A simple facelift, but a major update to this home.

This house started as a single story home on the Greensboro Country Club Golf Course. It had spectacular views - so good in fact that when the homeowners decided that they needed more room, they opted to add a scene story to their home rather than move. We removed the entire roof structure and added an additional floor with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a wrapping paper room, and lots and lots of storage. We also added a two car garage to take the place of the old carport, and created a main level laundry room / mud room to connect the garage to the main part of the house. We combined two bedrooms on the main level to create a luxurious master suite, remodeled the bathroom in the basement, and added some wonderful terraced patios in the backyard.

This modern-style kitchen is still one of our favorites! We used charcoal stained cabinets and double-thick granite tops as the base for this gut and remodel. The appliances are all top of the line - Wolf 48" gas range top with a Wolf stainless professional style hood, dual 36" Subzero refrigerator plus freezer units, a waterfall linear prep sink, dual islands, and absolutely the most beautiful reclaimed oak wide panel flooring ever all make this a spectacular open-plan kitchen for entertaining.

These homeowners had very specific requirements for their extensive outdoor living space. We designed a screened in porch attached directly to the house, that leads to an outdoor dining area on the deck. The centerpiece of this outdoor living space is a connected deck for the sunken 8 person hot tub. This area is equipped with an outdoor sound system, accent lighting, and a ceiling fan directly above the hot tub to keep the breeze moving during warmer months!

This outdoor living space in Summerfield was created to make the absolute most of the beautiful views from this backyard. We removed the old wooden deck and created a raised brick patio with a built-in outdoor stone fireplace and a professional smoker / BBQ grill for the two outdoor cooking enthusiasts that live here. Serious foodies can create culinary masterpieces al fresco and still have all of the comforts of cooking indoors. The wood burring fireplace features a custom wrought iron fire screen that matches the custom railings that we created. Step lights and other soft accent lighting set the mood out here during any season! A connected screened in porch provides cover and shade when needed.

Bob and Linda updated their kitchen with beautiful granite counter tops. The backsplash matched perfectly and the space was completely updated. A new sink and vanity were added to the powder room.

This 1970's kitchen was original with dark cabinets, laminate flooring, and dated appliances. The entire kitchen was taken down to the studs and a wall to the dining room was opened up creating a whole new space with lots of light. New cabinets, granite countertops, and tile backsplash were installed. An apron front sink was placed in the island that is big enough for 4 bar stools. Hardwood floors matching the original floors were also added to the kitchen area.

This master bath was gutted down to the studs and re-imagined as a spa-like retreat! The shower is huge and features a rain head and multiple fixed head wall mounted sprays. The floor in the shower is heated, as is the granite bench. These are on a seperate thermostat from the heating elements that serve the main section of the bathroom.

This master bedroom and bathroom renovation is not your traditional remodeling project. Having a creative and inspiring homeowner to work with, we were able to go outside the "norm" for this project. The bedroom and bathroom are divided by two glass panels. The two exterior walls in the bedroom are floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beautifully landscaped backyard. To make the room complete, our very talented cabinet maker constructed the closet out of Kirei, pronounced "key-ray", which is pressed sorghum stalks.

Ellen and Jim got a totally new look in their kitchen with just a few easy updates! The original wood cabinets were painted, tile countertops were replaced with granite, a tile backsplash was added, and pendant lights were hung above the island. The island was also reconfigured to allow seating in the kitchen area. What a beautiful transformation!

This couple has a beautiful house on a gorgeous lakefront setting, but wanted an outdoor entertainment area that could also be used when the weather turned colder. We built this raised patio using a mixture of natural stone and installed a gas firepit with glass beads and a granite surround at just the right height to invite guests to put their feet up or rest their beverage within easy reach.

Stacy & John

Stacy and John had unconditioned space they knew could be used for something better. A media room with a loft and a full bathroom were added using this space. The ceiling in the media room and loft is a beautiful reclaimed barnwood found by Stacy and John. The loft area has built in bookshelves that Stacy uses to display family photos. The full bath features a walk in shower with a pebble floor, double vanity, toilet, and built in cabinets for linen storage.

Tom and Debbie wanted to update their 1950's home and add a master suite. By moving walls we were able to combine two smaller bedrooms into one master suite with a spacious walk-in closet and luxurious master bath. Hardwood floors were added in the new master bedroom space to keep with the homes heritage.

Sue M.

Sue wanted a bathroom update to her 1960's home that included a nicely tiled bath/shower combination and additional storage. White painted maple cabinetry keeps the space light and bright even though a lot of additional tall cabinet storage was added.

Steve & Kristi

Even relatively new homes can use a master bath update. That was the thought that Steve and Kristi had when contemplating their master bath in their home built in the 1990's. In the original design, the tub took up more room than was necessary and created a less than ideal size for the adjacent shower. Shower size was increased to "Spa-level" and the tub was reduced in size but upgraded in function to make this master bath suite extremely welcoming. Stained maple cabinetry also added additional needed storage. The frameless glass shower enclosure shows off the custom tile work.

What is better than a home on the water? A home on the water with an updated guest suite so everyone can enjoy their stay! Phyllis, an accomplished artist worked with us to create this splendid guest room bath. The old, cramped shower was expanded and was made to feel even more spacious with the addition of frameless glass and cutting edge tile work. The ebony maple vanity sports a built-in look and even has a nightlight concealed under the front furniture toekick.

Part of a whole house remodel effort, Oscar and Bernice's bathrooms were gutted and updated with new shower, tub, and floor tile, vanities, "waterfall" edge countertops, and glass shower enclosures.

This Irving Park masterbath was expanded by re-purposing space from an adjacent room. Dual shower heads, a tiled shower, glass shower enclosure, Jacuzzi tub, and a lot of stained maple cabinets for storage were all added to make this a very spacious bathroom. The Creme Marfill marble helps keep the large countertop area from being visually overpowering.

Donna G.

This Lake Jeannette homeowner liked her master bath but felt it was in need of an update. At 6’, the original soaking tub was larger than it needed to be and the shower was undersized. White painted maple cabinets were added to brighten the space and granite countertops were added for some color. A new 5’ Jacuzzi tub with all the bells and whistles was added which allowed an additional 2’ to be added to the shower. Coordinating porcelain tile was added to the shower and the bathroom floor. The master closet was gutted and re-designed using white laminated closet shelving to maximize storage.

This masterbath from the 1970's was the same old story - claustrophobic shower and 1970's finishes in need of an update. The shower size was expanded by several feet and was made to feel even more spacious with the use of the frameless shower glass. The large format tile used in the shower and on the floor makes this space feel much more updated and evokes a spa-like feel. The ebony maple cabinets and T-bar hardware give it a more contemporary feel without feeling too modern or cold. The granite top on the tub deck just adds to the luxury.

Sharon & Alvin

Photo of Sharon & Alvin
Sharon and Alvin's 1970's home still had the original kitchen layout which divided the cooking and breakfast table areas with a peninsula and upper cabinets which obstructed views and reduced natural light. Walls were removed and then added to make a mudroom entry from the carport that also serves as the laundry center. The kitchen was opened up and the new configuration features an eat-in space at the island as well as the now wide open breakfast table area. Hardwood floors were continued from the den and dining room further helping to tie the spaces together. White painted maple cabinets were selected to keep the kitchen feeling light and a very serene granite and tile backsplash combination was used help to make this one of the most inviting spaces in the house.

Rick & Phyllis

A kitchen remodel does not always involve new cabinets. The cherry cabinets in this 1970's Starmount home were in great shape when Phyllis and Rick decided that a kitchen update was needed. The problem was that the cabinets were in the wrong place! A U-shaped kitchen created bottlenecks and just did not work for their family. We solved the problem with some good design work and re-arranged the cabinets to form an L-shaped kitchen with an island. Logjams are no longer a problem in this household. Hardwood floors were extended from the dining room and hallway areas and help to make the home seem even more spacious. New granite countertops, tile backsplash, stainless appliances, a new pantry with lots of storage, and a bar area with wine storage round out this make over.

Ray & Suzanne

Ray and Suzanne's home was built in 1910. The kitchen had been remodeled previously but after a lot of years it was time for a reconfiguration and a new look. The main section of the kitchen was reorganized as an L-shape with an island with eat-in seating. The other side of the kitchen was treated to tall pantry cabinets for lots of storage and a beer cooler and bar area for glassware. Stained maple cabinets were paired with ebony maple cabinets for an up-to-date look. Granite countertops, tumbled marble backsplash, hardwood floors, new stainless appliances, and additional lighting were also added.

Phyllis S.

Phyllis' home on the lake needed a kitchen update but the cabinets were in good condition. We made the absolute most of what she had by sanding the stained cabinets and painting them with a great quality Sherwin Williams oil based paint which completely changed the look of her kitchen. Removing a wall between the kitchen and the sunroom allowed an amazing amount of natural light into the kitchen space and provided spectacular views that were just waiting to be discovered. Hardwood floors were added in the sunroom to tie the kitchen and sunroom together seamlessly. Granite countertops, new appliances, and a marble backsplash rounded out this big-bang-for-the-buck remodel.

Oscar & Bernice

This kitchen was remodeled as part of a larger whole house remodel, but it truly was the kitchen redo that made this house what it is today. Originally, the kitchen in this home was extremely small. It was U-shaped and even one person working in the kitchen would feel claustrophobic. By looking at the kitchen and breakfast table area as one big space that was "up for reinterpretation", we were able to create an enormous kitchen by moving the cooking function to the space previously used by the breakfast area. A huge island provides space for eating in the kitchen and we sill managed to find room for the breakfast table in an area that includes a new large window overlooking the backyard. Stained maple cabinets, granite countertops, tile backsplash, hardwood floors, and a new lighting package make this the most appreciated room in the house.

Even relatively new homes can benefit from a kitchen remodel. These homeowners felt that this home built in the 1990's was ready for a complete overhaul. A large section of the wall between the kitchen and the den was removed to give the home a more open feel. The appliance configuration was re-worked to suit the homeowners. A built-in nook with abundant storage was installed in the bay window area. A small portion of the garage was "re-purposed" for a large pantry area and a "drop-zone" for mail, paperwork, and electronic devices that needed to be recharged. The cabinets that were used were a stained maple with a deep ebony glaze. New lighting, KitchenAid appliances, granite countertops, tile backsplash, and a new lighting package were all part of this remodel.

Martha and Tom's home was built in the 1970's and still had the original kitchen intact but it was time for a remodel. Stained maple cabinets, granite tops, marble tile backsplash, a new lighting plan, and large format ceramic tile on the floor were all part of this remodel. Tall pantry and laundry cabinets were also added in the adjoining laundry room.

Lenwood & Carolyn

New cabinets and lots of storage were on the top of Carolyn's wish list for the remodel of her Irving Park kitchen. The kitchen was gutted and stained cherry cabinets with an ebony glaze were added, including oversized pantry cabinets and a "drop-zone" for mail and the telephone. Granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a marble backsplash were also added. A new lighting plan with lots of recessed can lights really helped brighten the new kitchen.

Helen & Bob

A kitchen facelift was in order for Helen and Bob's home after water damage from a leaking refrigerator damaged the hardwood flooring in their home. In addition to repairing their floors we added granite countertops, a marble tile backsplash, and new stainless appliances including a Wolf cooktop with pop-up downdraft ventilation.

Greg & Susan

The cabinets were in good shape in this Starmount home, but the homeowners wanted to change the work triangle and update the look. By building a new island to match the perimeter cabinets, moving the ovens and then painting all of the cabinets in soft green, we were able to give Greg and Susan exactly what they were looking for. New granite countertops, a tile backsplash, and a new lighting plan rounded out this kitchen makeover.

The homeowners of this 1950’s home had really enjoyed building upon the “mid-century cool” feel of their home. Their furniture and décor were selected to complement the architectural features of that era. The original kitchen was less than desirable, however. It was very small and cramped and even lacked the most modest of modern conveniences - a built-in dishwasher. Removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, extending the hardwood floors, and creating a storage-packed kitchen design featuring sleek ebony cabinets, solid surface countertops and glass tile backsplash have given this home the kitchen that it originally deserved.

The U-shaped kitchen in Bill and Libby's home was cramped for even one cook. We gutted the kitchen, removed a wall to the dining room, and created a new L-shaped layout that really made the kitchen more spacious. Lightly stained maple cabinets with a glaze, new granite countertops, a marble tile backsplash, new stainless steel appliances, and a new lighting plan were all part of this remodel.

Steve and Michelle knew when they purchased their home that many changes were in store. After living in the home for two years, it was time for a big overhaul. The cabinets are a shaker-style stained maple. The addition of the T-bar style stainless pulls and handles on the cabinetry take the kitchen in a more contemporary direction without going over the top. Beautiful granite countertops, tile backsplash, Bosch stainless steel appliances, and a custom-made island transformed the hub of this home.

This 1970's era home was something right out of House Beautiful - the 1972 version anyway! The original owners had lovingly cared for and preserved the green shag carpets, the green linoleum, and the avocado green appliances. Everything worked and was in great shape but the new owners wanted a much more updated look. The wall between the kitchen and the den was removed and the ceiling height was raised. Skylights were added and the kitchen was remade using stained maple cabinets with an ebony glaze, new granite countertops, marble tile backsplash, Bosch stainless steel appliances, new hardwood floors, and a new lighting plan. The fireplace in the adjoining den was refaced with the same marble as the tile backsplash in the kitchen for a seamless look.

This home in the Country Club neighborhood of High Point needed a kitchen remodel due to a devastating kitchen fire. The kitchen was gutted and rebuilt using lightly stained maple cabinets with a glaze, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, tile backsplash, new hardwood floors, and a new lighting plan featuring lots of recessed lights. Tall pantry cabinets next to the refrigerator provide plenty of room for storage.

Ron and Sherilyn wanted an outdoor space that would accomodate many guests, provide shelter from the rain and the sun, but still let lots of light in through the windows of the den. The solution was a covered deck that incorporated a high gable at one end and also skylights to let in lots of light. The porch features Trex composite railing materials for low maintenance and a custom clear pine tongue and groove ceiling.

The homeowners of this Land's End home wanted an outdoor space to enjoy the beautiful natural views from the rear of their home. What we designed was a brick raised patio with wrought-iron railings that goes perfectly with the homes original look. An elegant curved staircase with wrought-iron hand rails leads to the backyard.

Enclosing the original porch gave homeowners Paul and Laura exactly what they needed - a heated and cooled sunroom that provides additional living space year-round. The porch was reframed and low-E windows and a french door were added. The floor was tiled and a radiant heating system was installed underneath to provide warmth during colder months.

We finished 1,000 square feet of unused attic space in this home so that the homeowners could create an entertainment haven for their family. There is a pool table area with a full kitchen to handle all snacking requirements with ease. A media room houses a 50" flat screen TV with surround sound. There is a ping-pong table area as well. A luxurious full bath with tiled shower was added to handle overnight guests. An enormous number of closets were designed into the plan to handle storage. There is even a dedicated Lego Room that contains all of the childrens' Lego supplies and "works in progress".
